This beer of the week lands us in the city of Fresno, California, at one of my favorite of California's many breweries: Tioga-Sequoia. Located in downtown Fresno, their taproom goes all out, featuring a number of monthly events, including living music, food trucks, art programs, and more. Oh, and they have a lot of tasty beer offerings, including one of their staples: the 99 Golden Ale.
Named after California State Route 99, which runs pretty much through the center of the state, connecting many of the cities and towns of the Great Central Valley. Also, I definitely didn't take that blurb straight from Tioga-Sequoia's website--what can I say, the history of California's highway system isn't my strongest suit.
This 4.8% ABV beer is a light, but not too light blonde ale, still packing a full-bodied flavor, ending with just a little bit of sweetness. True to it's name, it pours a golden, almost copper color; it's a perfect beer to enjoy on a hot Fresno summer evening, or to pack out with you to one of the nearby national parks: Sequoia, Kings Canyon, or Yosemite.

I first discovered Tioga-Sequoia's amazing line up in the grocery store of Sequoia National Park, and bought plenty to keep us "hydrated" on our two week trek through the Sierra Nevada parks. If you do have the chance though, definitely stop by their taproom in downtown Fresno, where you can sample the 99 Golden Ale for yourself, or a whole bunch of other delicious beers. Cheers!
