Big Sur Guide
Rolling green hills, rocky coastlines than turn into sandy beaches, redwood groves, and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean are just a few of the things that make California's Big Sur so famous.

Big Sur Things to Do

Bixby Creek Bridge
Time: 15 minutes.
Distance: N/A.
All right, let's get this one out of the way first: there's one spot in the Big Sur area that everyone has probably heard of, or at least seen, and it's the Bixby Creek Bridge. There's actually a number of bridges in the Big Sur area of Pacific Highway One, but this one is the most popular for good reason. Spanning a green canyon that blooms with wildflowers, and a sandy beach below that meets the Pacific Ocean, it's no wonder Death Cab for Cutie wrote a song about this place. There's a parking lot near the northern end of the bridge, but if this fills, there's some street parking--don't be that person who ends up parking in the middle of the highway. Also, there's absolutely no parking on the bridge, without blocking it that is. Once you park, there's ample space to view the bridge from either side of the road. Find Bixby Creek Bridge near Mile Marker 59 on Pacific Highway One--closer to the northern part of the Big Sur area.
